Pencil Dispenser

At our school, when kiddos have birthdays, they bring treats.  Any "extra" treats are walked around and given to other teachers that the birthday child chooses.

Traditionally, those bestowed with a treat give a birthday pencil.

I had a big box of pencils for the kids to choose from last year.  This was great. . . if I didn't have class.  If I did it was a bit disruptive to have the birthday child, plus two friends, pawing through the pencils trying to decide on the perfect one.  I decided that this year they would be loaded into a dispenser and what you got is what you got!

This is a straw dispenser.  All straw dispensers are not made the same. . . make sure yours is long enough to hold pencils.

I used my Sizzix to cut some colorful vinyl out in shapes.  They are stuck to the dispenser.

You can buy colored vinyl at craft stores but it is a bit expensive.  You pay about $10 for a roll of one color and it is a LOT!  I found a lot of sellers on eBay who would sell me a nice variety of colors in a smaller size for much less.  This way I got my colors and didn't spend too much money doing so!

School starts in a month and a week for us.  Where did summer go?!?!?

Enjoy what you have left!
